Hi, Aleeka. This was so beautiful to read. It inspired me even more. Pregnancy has been a scary unknown to me for a while but hearing stories from other women about what the experience offers them…it makes the world seem that much more beautiful. Thank you for reading!

However, at the beginning of another pregnancy (following miscarriage), I can say that I was remarking to my husband about the sensuality of pregnancy last night, and this article feels very spot on!

I believe that there are a whirlwind of emotions, changes, and life happenings that can really affect how we experience our bodies during pregnancy. That being said, pregnancy presents a beautiful invitation for one to really connect with herself. And when this happens, the world stops spinning out of control. We learn to listen to our own hearts and not compare realities or expectations with others. And then we learn to become one with ourselves and with the amazing life force inside of us. With this refreshing embrace of truth, we are never the same again. It is sensual because we are able to sense and become fully aware of (and not afraid of) ourselves. We release perfection, control, and silence dread. Here, we enter the freeing door of surrender and start to trust in and delight ourselves. Thus, the most creative sensuality is birthed through the womb that is already divinely creating. That’s you. That’s me. And that’s is so crazy sensual. May we all learn to free ourselves for the uniqueness of our own journeys.

Good morning, Kate! Oh my gosh – I’ve never been pregnant but I can only imagine that the first trimester is not a sensual one. You bring up a great point (the difficulties and pain should be part of the discussion too). I bring it up a few times here (Um, LIGHTNING CROTCH WHAT). But definitely important to dig into in the future đŸ™‚ Sending you all the love during the rest of your journey!

We’ll see what the other trimesters hold, but at least point, I think what needs to be normalized above all else is just how damn hard pregnancy is. Kudos to Emily Ratajkowskie for making it appear sensual!
